Our Elephants Collection features three programmes that unlock the mysteries of these amazing giants.
Giants of Etosha: We follow a matriarch elephant, Knob Nose and her herd of 18 as they navigate and survive in the unforgiving environment of Africa's Etosha National Park. It has long been a mystery how these giants of the savanna coordinate their movements over incredible distances. New research by meteorologists suggests there is a link between elephant communication and atmospheric conditions. In this programme we journey with the elephants on a quest to unlock their mysteries of movement.
Elephant Rage: Elephants, although gigantic, are usually docile herbivores, in West Bengal they are destroying villages at an increasing rate. Willie Thieson, the 'Elephant Whisperer', travels to India and Sri Lanka to find out why. He teams up with the courageous 'Elephant Squad' to explore whether people and pachyderms can live peacefully side by side.
Reflections on Elephants: Two years in the making, this remarkable documentary reveals extraordinary elephant behaviour that has never been filmed before. It follows Africa's largest free-roaming elephant herds across the bush country of northern Botswana and discovers that the lives of elephants have much in common with our own.
